"You can go into this action feeling assured of this - that you need have no fear that the government and the country will fail to show just appreciation of your service to the country in what you are about to do and what you have already done. The government and the country will consider it their first duty to prove to the returned men its just and due appreciation of the inestimable value of the services rendered to the country and Empire; and that no man, whether he goes back or whether he remains in Flanders, will have just cause to reproach the government for having broken faith with the men who won and the men who died."
Prime Minister Sir Robert Borden, April 1917, Vimy Ridge
Canadians for Veterans was established to engage and encourage Canadians to ensure that our governments do not break faith with the solemn promise made by Prime Minister Borden just prior to the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
Canadian veterans should not have to commence Court actions in order to receive the benefits they have earned. Canadian veterans should receive all the benefits they are entitled to in an efficient, timely manner. Canadian veterans should not have to turn to the media to bring the failings of Veterans Affairs Canada to light.
It is time that we, the people of Canada, stand up and say to our governments “Enough is Enough”.
The men and women who answered the call to serve their country, at home and overseas, deserve our gratitude and support. They deserve to live in, and with, dignity.
They Fought for Us. Now, We Fight for Them.
